When I Think of Research...

·         What insights have you gained about research from taking this course?
  • The insight I have come to understand while I thought I knew how to do research I have found that I did not know as much as I thought I did. I now realize just how much detail it takes to do an accurate research.
·         In what ways have your ideas about the nature of doing research changed?
  • I now can see that while research is a lengthy progress it is well worth the time. I see that anyone can do a research sturdy if they have the correct progress to fine the answers to their questions.
·         What lessons about planning, designing, and conducting research in early childhood did you learn?
  • I learnt while you are doing a research project you must be organized and mission oriented. It also helps that you have a clear-cut hypothesis in which you are looking for answer with.
·         What were some of the challenges you encountered—and in what ways did you meet them?
  • The challenges I meet with was that I was not as ready as I thought I was for research. I found some of the jargon hard to understand until I got more into the class.
·         What are some of the ways your perceptions of an early childhood professional have been modified as a result of this course?
  • I always knew that research was an important part of the field. We as teachers could always use all the new materials we could get. I can now appreciate the progress behind the new knowledge.

Thank you my fellow classmates for your comments and suggests in this class. I look forward to see you in the next class!

·         What are some of the current international research topics?
1.       Diversity                                                6. Intercultural Communication & Understanding
2.       Inclusion                                               7. Assessments &Outcomes
3.       Ethical Internationalization
4.       Global Learning
5.       Teaching Innovation

·         What surprising facts/insights/new ideas about early childhood did you gain from exploring this international early childhood website?
  • There is some fabulous advancement being made in the field of early childhood education. I understood that while the United States is growing leap and bounds in this field it is nice to find out that people all over the world have been picking up the torch and are striving towards the future.
·         What other noteworthy information did you find on this website?
A number of developments boosted international education as the new millennium began. NAFSA’s strategic objective of pursuing a U.S. international education policy received a big endorsement in April 2000 when President Bill Clinton signed a memorandum calling for the federal government to support international education. The following year, the attacks of September 11, 2001 emphasized the importance of international expertise for national security and international understanding. Congress also provided the first significant increase in Title VI and Fulbright-Hays funding since the 1960s. Later in the decade, Congress took further steps to expand U.S. participation in study abroad programs, including the creation of a 17-member Commission on the Abraham Lincoln Study Abroad Fellowship Program. Week 3 Research that Benefits Children and Families - Uplifting Stories

Option 2
I would choose parent involvement in the classroom. It is my belief that this subject requires a more in-depth look at the benefits. I predict that the children will become more confident in their day to day routines. This prediction is one of confidence that has been backed up by the improved grades in the classroom. Teachers have reported that the children are more well behaved and the parents have become my activity in the classroom. The classroom feels more as a community than a classroom. Participant in the research project have showed that compare to those of their counter parts whose parents were not involved in the project in the classroom a significant or rather a steadfast of non- increase or decrease of their performance. Those who’s parents were more active in the classroom also showed an increase in attendance.

Blog Week 2 Personal Research Journey

My topic for parent involvement in the classroom as my topic. I have seen year after year parents who are active in their child’s class and those who have not. The difference is subtle but not always. I was a child in school whose parents never came to any school function and from first hand I can say it is hard on a child to see other children’s friend parents come into class and not their own. My student’s parents have several chances during the year to come into class and spend time with their children from fatherhood monthly activity to classroom readings.

The research has chart has given many new avenues to follow. I am gaining new insights to doing research. I have also so far come to understand that I have only a limit knowledge of research practices and I hope to increase my knowledge on the research project.
