3 Deeply felt learnings from this program.
Analyze values, biases, goals, and beliefs as they relate to professional learning and experiences.
During my journey to obtain my Master’s degree in Early Childhood studies I have become more self-conscious of the things that I do as well as those around me. My own personal beliefs have played a part in how I instruct my students. However, it was not until this course I stopped and took a long hard look at my professional career. I still believe every child should have every opportunity to reach his/her greatest potential. This course has taught me that I have many more avenues at my disposal then I first thought. I walk away from the course knowing that my values, beliefs, goals, and biases are all related to my student’s well-being. While I know that I might always agree with the parent’s point of view I can now better accept that we are all looking out for the child’s best interest.
Intended/ Unintended consequences of my challenge
I believe that my intended challenges will be met by helping my students to understand that while we are different and we are still the same. We have different beliefs and ways of thinking but we all are believing in something and we are all doing something. My intended challenges are to have my students start to develop a system of tolerance instead of torment. I will try to help them to start acceptance of each other for who they are rather than picking on them because they are different.
At least One Long-term Goal
My long-term goal is to see my multicultural study to be implemented in all of our head starts and added to the Creative Curriculum all together in the next five years. I believe that when this goal is reached, we as a nation will start to see a change in our society.

A farewell message to your instructor and colleagues
To my instructors I would like to say thank you for allowing me to learn from your experiences and wealth of knowledge. Thank you for answering the endless text and emails when I just could not wrap my head around the assignment. I am sure that the knowledge I gained from you and Walden University will keep me reaching for my own stars. I hope that my students will benefit me as much as I have from all of you.
To my classmates. The first thing I want to say, WE DID IT TOGETHER! Thank you for your endless comments and emails of insight and for pushing me to think outside the box. Your comments through these many courses have given me valuable insight into my studies. I look forward to a brighter future for having known you, my fellow classmates. I have enjoyed reading your discussion and blogs and realize the future leaders of countries will be instructed by the most caring, loving, and compassionate adults in this world.

Exploring Roles in the ECE Community: Local and State Levels

1.      The first I chose is, of course, would be the Department of Human Services: Division of Child Support Services. This particular agency appeals to me because I was a single mom and had to work several jobs in order to meet the needs of my daughter. This organization was able to allow me to receive the support I needed to help my daughter to see a brighter future by exposing her to new things and new places. They really work to help the parents to achieve a better future. This is just one branch of a huge department that is here to help our society receive training and resources they may need to succeed in life. Most of the jobs that are available at this time require to have at least a Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of experience or a Master’s degree in Social Work with some experiences.
2.      The second Organization I would choose would Babies Can’t Wait. This one has a personal connection to me. My niece was born and either had a stroke right before or right after she was born. This led to physical and development issues for my “Mini ME” (which is what we call each other). Babies Can’t Wait was there to help my sister get the help she needed and the help my niece needs. This program steps into a family win they need the help and to get the child the help she or he needs in the beginning. Babies Can’t Wait works with the family until the child gets into the school system then they take over. Babies Can’t Wait is under the South-Central Health District which has many jobs with the different requirement, unfortunately, the program Babies Can’t Wait is not hiring at this time.

3.      My last pick would be called Children 1st. This program works with children birth to five years of age by helping to identify at-risk children while putting them in touch with intervention service they may need. If a child does not show severe enough risk factors at first but do have some are put in touch with medical home and monitoring to see if any risk does come up, they can be addressed. This program is under the Georgia Department of Public Health. While they are no openings at this time in my area the opens are around Georgia but do require more medical experiences then education.

While I might not have the medical requirements for most of the job openings I do have an understanding as to were the children should be at any certain time of their development.

Greeting Classmates

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone. This is my last class in my goal of reaching my Master Degree.

Nonviolent Communication

The first strategy I would use is the three R’s. I would not react on first instinct but I will reflect on my response. I believe that this will allow me to become more companionate. Once, I start to show that I am aware of their concern then it is my hope that we can come to mutual agreement that will satisfy both of us.

In case the first strategy does not work. I would quietly listen to what they have to say. I would then paraphrase what they are saying to make sure I am understanding them correctly. Once, I paraphrase which basically I am putting what they said in my own words I would have a better understanding of the complaints. This will allow us to come to a peaceful resolution.

When I Think of Research...

·         What insights have you gained about research from taking this course?
  • The insight I have come to understand while I thought I knew how to do research I have found that I did not know as much as I thought I did. I now realize just how much detail it takes to do an accurate research.
·         In what ways have your ideas about the nature of doing research changed?
  • I now can see that while research is a lengthy progress it is well worth the time. I see that anyone can do a research sturdy if they have the correct progress to fine the answers to their questions.
·         What lessons about planning, designing, and conducting research in early childhood did you learn?
  • I learnt while you are doing a research project you must be organized and mission oriented. It also helps that you have a clear-cut hypothesis in which you are looking for answer with.
·         What were some of the challenges you encountered—and in what ways did you meet them?
  • The challenges I meet with was that I was not as ready as I thought I was for research. I found some of the jargon hard to understand until I got more into the class.
·         What are some of the ways your perceptions of an early childhood professional have been modified as a result of this course?
  • I always knew that research was an important part of the field. We as teachers could always use all the new materials we could get. I can now appreciate the progress behind the new knowledge.

Thank you my fellow classmates for your comments and suggests in this class. I look forward to see you in the next class!
