3 Deeply felt learnings from this program.
Analyze values, biases, goals, and beliefs as they
relate to professional learning and experiences.
During my journey to
obtain my Master’s degree in Early Childhood studies I have become more self-conscious
of the things that I do as well as those around me. My own personal beliefs
have played a part in how I instruct my students. However, it was not until
this course I stopped and took a long hard look at my professional career. I
still believe every child should have every opportunity to reach his/her
greatest potential. This course has taught me that I have many more avenues at my
disposal then I first thought. I walk away from the course knowing that my values,
beliefs, goals, and biases are all related to my student’s well-being. While I know that I might always
agree with the parent’s point of view I can now better accept that we are all looking
out for the child’s best interest.
Intended/ Unintended consequences of my challenge
I believe
that my intended challenges will be met by helping my students to understand
that while we are different and we are still the same. We have different
beliefs and ways of thinking but we all are believing in something and we are
all doing something. My intended challenges are to have my students start to
develop a system of tolerance instead of torment. I will try to help them to start
acceptance of each other for who they are rather than picking on them because
they are different.
At least One Long-term Goal
My long-term goal is to see my multicultural study to be implemented in all of our head starts
and added to the Creative Curriculum all together in the next five years. I believe
that when this goal is reached, we as a nation will start to see a change in our
society.
A farewell message to your instructor and colleagues
To my
instructors I would like to say thank you for allowing me to learn from your experiences
and wealth of knowledge. Thank you for answering the endless text and emails when
I just could not wrap my head around the assignment. I am sure that the
knowledge I gained from you and Walden University will keep me reaching for my
own stars. I hope that my students will benefit me as much as I have from all
of you.
To my
classmates. The first thing I want to say, WE DID IT TOGETHER! Thank you for
your endless comments and emails of insight and for pushing me to think outside the
box. Your comments through these many courses have given me valuable insight into
my studies. I look forward to a brighter future for having known you, my fellow classmates.
I have enjoyed reading your discussion and blogs and realize the future leaders
of countries will be instructed by the most caring, loving, and compassionate
adults in this world.
