Blog Week 2 Personal Research Journey

My topic for parent involvement in the classroom as my topic. I have seen year after year parents who are active in their child’s class and those who have not. The difference is subtle but not always. I was a child in school whose parents never came to any school function and from first hand I can say it is hard on a child to see other children’s friend parents come into class and not their own. My student’s parents have several chances during the year to come into class and spend time with their children from fatherhood monthly activity to classroom readings.

The research has chart has given many new avenues to follow. I am gaining new insights to doing research. I have also so far come to understand that I have only a limit knowledge of research practices and I hope to increase my knowledge on the research project.

  1. Elaine,
I too feel that I have only a limited knowledge of research practices. My hope is that as a community of educators we can all encourage one another and learn from one another. Is there a specific area within research practices that you are struggling with? I think you have chosen a wonderful topic. Parent involvement is so important. I cannot wait to hear all the wonderful things you discover!
    I wish you well!

  2. Elaine, my topic is parent involvement too, I have experienced the joy that children get when their families are involved in the school. I would like to find out your points of view and share mine on that topic.

  3. Elaine,
Parent involvement is such an important aspects of children's education. As an educator I would love to see more parents become involved in their child's education. Too often parents find excuses as to why they can not be more involved. I look forward to reading about what you discover in your research on this topic.
