Week 3 Research that Benefits Children and Families - Uplifting Stories

Option 2
I would choose parent involvement in the classroom. It is my belief that this subject requires a more in-depth look at the benefits. I predict that the children will become more confident in their day to day routines. This prediction is one of confidence that has been backed up by the improved grades in the classroom. Teachers have reported that the children are more well behaved and the parents have become my activity in the classroom. The classroom feels more as a community than a classroom. Participant in the research project have showed that compare to those of their counter parts whose parents were not involved in the project in the classroom a significant or rather a steadfast of non- increase or decrease of their performance. Those who’s parents were more active in the classroom also showed an increase in attendance.

  1. Elaine it has been difficult for me to get father involved in the classroom. I have seen how children develop in all their skills when a father is involved. Do you have any suggestions in how to get fathers involved?

  2. Elaine,
This is indeed a very interesting topic of research! I think you would find it interesting that research has indicated “parental involvement is associated with higher student achievement outcomes” (Jeynes, 2005, p. 1). Research has also shown that when parents spend a lot of time with their children like for example reading with their child, and also the parental style and expectations, had a more significant influence on student educational outcomes than some of the more expressive aspects of parental involvement, like for example having rules and involvement at school functions (Jeynes, 2005).
