Exploring Roles in the ECE Community: Local and State Levels

1.      The first I chose is, of course, would be the Department of Human Services: Division of Child Support Services. This particular agency appeals to me because I was a single mom and had to work several jobs in order to meet the needs of my daughter. This organization was able to allow me to receive the support I needed to help my daughter to see a brighter future by exposing her to new things and new places. They really work to help the parents to achieve a better future. This is just one branch of a huge department that is here to help our society receive training and resources they may need to succeed in life. Most of the jobs that are available at this time require to have at least a Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of experience or a Master’s degree in Social Work with some experiences.
2.      The second Organization I would choose would Babies Can’t Wait. This one has a personal connection to me. My niece was born and either had a stroke right before or right after she was born. This led to physical and development issues for my “Mini ME” (which is what we call each other). Babies Can’t Wait was there to help my sister get the help she needed and the help my niece needs. This program steps into a family win they need the help and to get the child the help she or he needs in the beginning. Babies Can’t Wait works with the family until the child gets into the school system then they take over. Babies Can’t Wait is under the South-Central Health District which has many jobs with the different requirement, unfortunately, the program Babies Can’t Wait is not hiring at this time.

3.      My last pick would be called Children 1st. This program works with children birth to five years of age by helping to identify at-risk children while putting them in touch with intervention service they may need. If a child does not show severe enough risk factors at first but do have some are put in touch with medical home and monitoring to see if any risk does come up, they can be addressed. This program is under the Georgia Department of Public Health. While they are no openings at this time in my area the opens are around Georgia but do require more medical experiences then education.

While I might not have the medical requirements for most of the job openings I do have an understanding as to were the children should be at any certain time of their development.
